Nadia Sheikh: 'Flip The Coin' / Single Review
With a delicate folky jazz vocal and a full rock band, Nadia knows how to grab an audience's attention. Originally from L'Alcora, Valenciana, Spain, Nadia moved to London for university and has become a singer-songwriter to watch.
Nadia is an unsigned artist and her new single 'Flip The Coin' was self-released, it’s co-written with Danny Schogger and Linda Taylor and produced by Danny Schogger. Nadia’s previous releases on music platforms have included ’50 feet’, ‘No.24’ and ‘Redemption’ live video. The new single is a modern-day love story, with the edgy grit of a London based singer-songwriter.
‘Flip The Coin’ is a relatable girl meets boy story, with a rocky unique edge to it. It’s about a guy in a club or venue and how he flips a coin before deciding whether to talk to the girl.’ – Nadia Sheikh.
As well as producing music, Nadia has played at multiple venues around London such as Borderline, Proud Camden, the Amersham Arms, the Bedford, Upstairs at the Garage, the Water Rats. Her current line up includes a group of like-minded young musicians, drummer George Gardiner, bassist Rowan Davies and guitarist George Capon.
If you haven't had the pleasure of seeing Nadia perform live, songs such as 'Feeling Fine' have the whole audience engrossed in the music, resulting in the humming the catchy tune the following day.
Being a versatile performer, The MNGR recently had the pleasure of having Nadia perform at one of our acoustic nights, the highlight of the performance was a request of 'Deep Waters', a stunning acoustic track which has delicate falsetto throughout and truly shows the artists' full vocal potential.
Originally from Valencia, as well as London shows, Nadia Sheikh and band are currently on a three date Spanish mini-tour:
4th May at 16 Toneladas (Valencia)
5th May at Four Seasons (Castellon)
